Patrick ten Brink is a senior fellow at Institute for European Envrionment Policy (IEEP) and Head of the Brussels Office, which he helped set up in 2000. He leads IEEP’s work on environmental economics.His current particular focus of work is on biodiversity, ecosystems and their value. He has also worked across a range of other fields - EU enlargement, innovation, evaluation, transport, market-based instruments, fiscal reform and environmentally-harmful subsidies.
Related work includes the Cost of Policy Inaction (COPI) for not halting biodiversity loss, Socio-Economic Benefits of Natura, and an ongoing project for the Directorate General of the Environment (DGENV), Financing Natura 2000: Cost Estimate and Benefits of Natura 2000. He has undertaken many benefits assessments (on the value of biodiversity, as well as a series of studies on the benefits of EU Enlargement) and has worked on the high level Beyond GDP initiative. Patrick has published widely, is a member of the editorial board of the European Environment Journal and is a peer reviewer for a range of journals on policy instruments.
