TEEB Reports

The TEEB Synthesis Report Mainstreaming the Economics of Nature: A synthesis of the approach, conclusions and recommendations of TEEB was released on 20 October 2010 at the CBD COP10 in Nagoya. 

"Mainstreaming the Economics of Nature" is the last of four reports produced by the U.N. Environmental Program over the past two years and aims to capture how habitats such as tropical forests and coral reefs contribute to countries' economic bottom lines.

The TEEB for Local and Regional Policy Makers was released on September 9 2010.

The study illustrates how dependent cities and municipalities are on nature, and that nature has cost-effective solutions to local problems such as drinking water supply or air pollution control.

TEEB for Business

The TEEB for Business Report was released on July 13 2010.

This report summarizes a major component of TEEB aimed at the business community. The full report sets out the business case for biodiversity and ecosystem services (BES).

Climate Issues Update

The TEEB for Policy Makers Report was released on Friday 13 November, 2009.

TEEB for Policy Makers underlines the urgent need to improve knowledge and awareness of the social and economic dimension of the loss of biological diversity. This summary aims to assist policy makers in reaching informed decisions regarding nature conservation and sustainable economic development.

The TEEB Economic and Ecological Foundation was released online in September 2009 and has since been updtaed and published in a book by Earthscan in October 2010. 

TEEB Economic and Ecological Foundations synthesizes state-of-the-art knowledge on the main concepts, methods and tools for valuation, provides recommendations on their application and identifies some critical needs in research and data collection.

TEEB Economic and Ecological Foundations draft chapters and information on how to purchase the Earthscan book are available through the TEEB for Economic and Ecological Foundation tab.

 
Climate Issues Update

The TEEB Climate Issues update was released on 2 September, 2009.

The Climate Issues Update was presented in Berlin in September 2009 and deals with climate-relevant economic aspects of biodiversity. Investments in the restoration and conservation of our planet's ecosystems, valued at several trillion dollars, can play a major role in combating climate change.

At the 9th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD in Bonn, author of the interim report Pavan Sukhdev presented a "comprehensive and convincing business model for the conservation of biological diversity". The project was launched in 2007 by the Federal Environment Ministry and commissioner for the Environment in the European Commission, Stavros Dimas, in order to gain a better understanding of the true economic value of the services provided by nature. This is the first interim report.
