TEEB Conference 2012, Extended Call for Papers and additional topics
It is a pleasure to announce the TEEB Conference 2012, Mainstreaming the Economics of Nature: Challenges for Science and Implementation, taking place in Leipzig, Germany, March 19-22, 2012.
The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) is a major international initiative to draw attention to the global economic benefits of biodiversity, to highlight the growing costs of biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation, and to draw together action-oriented expertise from the fields of science, economics and policy.
Two years after the influential TEEB reports, TEEB invites the research and policy community to Leipzig, Germany, to discuss the state of the art in Environmental Valuation, Ecosystem Services and Science-Policy Processes. The TEEB Conference 2012 will be hosted by the Scientific Coordinators of the TEEB reports, the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research UFZ, in Leipzig, Germany.
In Leipzig, conference participants will have the possibility to discuss and update the findings of the TEEB study and contribute to a new understanding of the link between economics, decision-making and the environment.
Due to a significant number of requests for a delayed abstract submission, we have decided to open up the submission system again.
It will be possible to submit abstracts for INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATIONS and COORDINATED SESSIONS at the TEEB Conference 2012 from: NOVEMBER 2, 2011 until: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2011.

Based on the abstracts submitted so far, and currently under review, we take this chance to expand and complement the conference programme. The conference is focussed on the following CONFERENCE THEMES:
Theme 1 – Demonstrating and leveraging the value of nature at the national and regional level
Theme 2 – Mainstreaming the value of Biodiversity: TEEB and the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity
Theme 3 – Nature in the city: ecosystem services in local planning and urban development
Now, a series of ADDITIONAL TOPICS will broaden the range of relevant contributions on mainstreaming the economics of nature.
We specifically encourage submissions of abstracts (400 Words) for INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATIONS or COORDINATED SESSIONS on:
Special Focus 1 "Oceans and Marine Environment"
Special Focus 2 "Ecosystem Services and Gender"
Special Focus 3 "Legal and Institutional Challenges"
Special Focus 4 "Poverty Alleviation through Environmental Management"
Special Focus 5 "Arid Regions, Desertification and UNCCD"
